5 Days Uganda Primate Safari- Bwindi & Kibale Forest

5 days (4 Nights) primate safari in Uganda combines chimpanzee tracking in Queen Elizabeth National Park with adventure gorilla trekking in Bwindi forest. Other actvities include nature walks & community visits to local villages.


DAY 1- Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Kibale forest chimp Today you will be picked up from your location or hotel in Kampala after your breakfast to Queen Elizabeth . This journey covers a distance of 310.5km about 4 hours from Kampala city. On arrival, you will relax, may have a short game drive in the evening. You will have dinner at the lodge were you will be spending the night.


DAY 2- Chimp tracking in Kyambura Gorge
You will be driven to the headquarters for briefing just after you have had breakfast for a little briefing about the Chimpanzee trekking. Besides chimpanzees, kyambura gorge is home to numerous primates which include baboons red-tailed monkeys, black and white Colubus, and Vervet monkeys among others. Also, expect to see and listen to the sweet melodies of birds lie African finfoot, African fish eagle, African Kingfisher, blue-headed bee-eater and falcons among others. In other words, Kyambura gorge is one of the birding spots in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The permanent river in this forest is a water source for most animals in the park especially hippos the other water animals. Afternoon relaxation. Dinner & Overnight at Mazike Lodge


DAY 3- Transfer to Bwindi forest national park.
You will have breakfast, checkout and immediately embark on your journey to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. Bwindi Park harbors over half of the last mountain gorillas in the world with up to 120 mammals and 230 bird species. This journey takes about 5 hours and 30 minutes to transfer from Kibale Park to Bwindi Park were you may arrive in the evening depending on the departure time. On arrival, you will check in to the lodge were you will spend the night and have dinner as well.


Bwindi gorillaDAY 4- Gorilla tracking
You will wake up to ready breakfast at the lodge then get ready to hit the forest for the amazing gorilla trekking activity.  This activity can take 2 to 7 hours depending on your luck that day with the gorillas. After they are tracked down, you will be allowed a maximum of 1 hour to interface with these awesome primates. From the lodge, you will be taken to the Bwindi impenetrable forest national park offices handling gorilla tracking for orientation and meeting with the guides. You will be divided into small groups not exceeding 8 trackers to enter into the jungle for a day.
During this adventurous activity, you will be given about an hour to closely enjoy these primates, take pictures and observe them as they feed, play and see how they live their lives in the jungle. While trekking, you may also come across some mammals and other primates like the red tailed monkeys and baboons plus birds. After this activity, you will head back to the head quarters where you will be awarded gorilla trekking certificates upon your successful adventure as you enjoy your packed lunch.  After this meal, you will head back to the lodge for dinner and over night

DAY 5- Return to Kampala
Again, you will wake up to ready breakfast. Today is when you checkout and head back to Kampala. Along the journey, you can stop over at the equator for some photo shots and souvenirs.
