Led by the Vice Chairperson Uganda Tourism Board, Ms. Susan Muhwezi, along with tourism and hospitality private sector exhibited Uganda as a viable MICE destination in Africa during the 32nd<\/sup> edition of IBTM World 2019 in Barcelona.<\/p>\n

Demand for MICE is forecast to rise in a report published by Allied Market Research, titled, “MICE Industry by Event Type: Global Opportunity Analysis and Industry Forecast, 2017-2023<\/a>“, the global MICE industry was valued at $752 billion in 2016 and is projected to reach $1,245 billion in 2023, registering a compound annual growth rate of 7.5% from 2017 to 2023 and Uganda is ready to capitalise. Working for its slice of the growing global Meetings Incentive Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) pie, Uganda has positioned itself as an attractive destination for corporates and international event planners.<\/p>\n

In recent years\u2019 Uganda\u2019s ranking in Africa, as reported by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) has consistently been amongst the top 10 African destinations hosting international Association meetings, with an 8th position recorded in 2017.<\/p>\n

Uganda has held a number of international events and conferences including the recently concluded 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, 2019 held at the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort on 22nd<\/sup> to 29th<\/sup> September 2019. One of the largest annual gatherings of Commonwealth Parliamentarians was hosted by the CPA Uganda Branch and the Parliament of Uganda. The conference was hosted by the CPA President Designate (2018-2019), Rt Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda.<\/p>\n

Uniquely, in addition to the big 5, Uganda is home to two of the world\u2019s most iconic primates \u2013 the gentle endangered mountain gorillas of Bwindi and Mgahinga, and the chimpanzee with the largest population in Kibale National Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Uganda is also home to over 10% of the worlds and 50% of Africa\u2019s birds, with over 1,000 different species including some of the rarest and endemic such as the Shoebill Stork. This makes the country and its national parks a premium and sought after bird watching destination.<\/p>\n

Each of the parks and national reserves are unique in habitat and species. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a world heritage site, is mountainous and misty, whilst the rugged wild Kidepo Valley National Park in the northeast (voted 3rd Best Safari Park in Africa by CNN in 2017) is so isolated that a safari there becomes a solitary excursion into the wilderness.<\/p>\n
